Farhad Mazhar

He is the founding Managing Director of UBINIG (Policy Research for Development Alternative) a policy research and advocacy group working as an integral part of  the  community with the grassroots people to strengthen common resistance against the dominant processes of globalisation  as well as creating space for strategic negotiations whenever possible. As a principle UBINIG avoids both “populism” and “anarchism”– two dominant ideologies of grassroots “development” paradigms one faces in Bangladesh. UBINIG is working all over Bangladesh in the field of agriculture, biodiversity and food security. He is also the initiator of Nayakrishi Andolon, an movement of thousands of Bangladeshi farmers to stop using pesticides, chemicals and unsustainable technologies. Among other major areas of work are handloom weaving, trade union education, population and health issues, etc.  UBINIG is active in many international and National & International networks.
