Born in Brussels the 07.03.25, Diplomas in Philosophy and Theology (Mayor Seminary of Malines, 1943-1949); Ordained priest in 1949;. Licence in Social and Political Sciences (Catholic University of Louvain, 1952); Postgraduate studies in Sociology at the University of Chicago (1952-1953); Graduated of the Internationl Institute of Applied City Planning (Brussels, 1954); PhD in Sociology (Catholic University of Louvain, 1974).
Professor emeritus of the Catholic University of Louvain (1990); Honorary Professor of the National Institute of Higher Studies of Ecuador (IAEN from 2013) ; Invited professor at the Universities of Tilburg, Birmingham, Pablo Olavide (Sevilla), Buenos Aires, Sherbrooke, Montreal, UCA (Managua), Universidad nacional (Bogotá), Universidad central (Ecuador), Puebla, UNAM (Mexico), Sapientiae (Rome), Sofia (Japon), Hanoi,
